A shot of a landscape from a window in Cologne through which a train carrying coal is passing - sporadically and unknowingly - has been captured from summer through to winter every some days repeatedly. The respective coal mine is one of the last active coal mines in the area of the extended Ruhrgebiet (Ruhr area). The 21 shots of the changing view are projected with random duration intervals in between.
Audio and image are never synchronous. It is not predetermined when the video sequences appear - when they do they are always mute, the roaring sound of the train approaching is only being heard in a few of the dark intervals in between - an attempt on a meditation on singularity albeit/within recurrence and an echo of the state of being in anticipation of the train sliding past.
